Camborne Town Band

Yesterday, Camborne Town Band competed in the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain at the famous Royal Albert Hall in London.
Conducted by Richard Evans, they were placed 8th out of 20 by adjudicators David King, Derek Broadbent and David Read. Competing amongst some of the best brass bands in the World,let alone the Country, Camborne drew to play number 12, between Carlton Main and Fairey, taking to the stage of the magnificent hall at about 2pm. After a successful performance of Peter Graham's 'The Torchbearer', the band were delighted to be awarded 8th - Camborne's highest placing at the contest since 1990! camborne town band's 'big lottery fund' grant application
The Camborne Town Band's project to repair and refurbish it's 80 year old band room has won a place on the list of projects going forward to the public vote.
The project is to completely renovate the aged band room which has been deteriorating during recent years. The intention is to:
build toilets, disabled access, storeroom, replace the ceiling and lights, replace windows and upgrade electrical switchgear. To complete this work, Camborne Town band have applied for a £50,000 lottery grant.
The project will be featured on ITV West Country (channel 3) regional news programme on Tuesday 25th November
2008 at 6pm.
On that night, the viewing public will be asked to choose between the Band's project and one other from our ITV Regional News area. The project that receives the most votes will be declared the winner and offered a grant.
The voting lines will be open at 9am on the 25th November and close at midnight. Voting is only possible on this date.
