DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND INJUNCTIONS GLOSSARY

Domestic violence can take many forms including physical, emotional, controlling behaviour and sexual violence that takes place in a family setting or an intimate relationship. Sometimes this can be a one off incident or can take place over a period of time.

In the first instance you should always call the Police if you are experiencing domestic violence. At the same time we would recommend that you contact us as there are additional ways in which we can help you;

NON MOLESTATION ORDER

This is an Order that forbids a person from harassing, using violence or threatening violence against you and your child. It can also stop a person from making contact with you and your child.

OCCUPATION ORDER

This is an Order that can make a person leave your home and prevent them from returning to your home, entering your home or attempting to enter your home. Even if your partner has rights to be in the property this Order can be obtained.

BREAKING THE ORDERS

If a person breaches the Order by doing something they have been forbidden to do we can return the matter to court.

If you think you may need help we have specialist family solicitors who are always available to advise and assist you.

RELATIONSHIP BREAKDOWN

If there are children of the relationship we can help you with arrangements about where the children live and who they have contact with as well as what happens with the family home and finances.
