A Brief Introduction

In 1890, Alfred Walters put up his plate and opened his legal practice in Basset Road, Camborne, just a couple of doors from Walters & Barbary's present offices.

Well over a century later and we are still offering a diverse and comprehensive service to our clients but have developed special expertise in matters relating to business, property, probate and family. We take pride in being able to provide modern solutions to contemporary problems.

Our Fees

We recognise that lawyers do not come cheap but we aim to give the best value and service. We endeavour to ensure that clients are fully informed about costs not only at the beginning but throughout. As we are selling our time and accumulated years of experience, our fees are based on the time taken on your affairs. Where possible however, we give estimates and fixed fees to assist clients with budgeting.

In all cases at the outset we will give you details of our charging rates which invariably you will find competitive. In most conveyancing matters we will give you a fixed price quotation. In some case clients maybe eligible for Legal Aid and we will give you advice on this and will make the appropriate application on your behalf.

Buying or Selling a House

This is probably the most important transaction in your life. Consult us at the outset and we will guide you every step of the way through to completion.

Leasing Property

Whether you are leasing a flat or a factory, the law in this area can be a minefield through which we can provide specialist guidance from the outset.

Family Matters

Over the years we have become real specialists in family law. We probably have the largest family practice in one office in the area. We can usually see new clients on the day that they make contact with us and we are always able to cater for emergencies. We take a mediatory approach and try to resolve disputes amicably but equally we can be tough negotiators. We have Law Society Panel specialists on our team, and members of Resolution First. This is an association of lawyers dedicated to resolving disputes without acrimony.

We deal with separation, divorce, domestic violence issues, disputes relating to where children live and who they see, (we also deal with social services), financial disputes between couples who are married, are civil partners or who simply live together.

We regularly act for children, parents and wider family members in Public Law Children Care Cases. Private Law Children Cases (disputes between individuals about residence and contact etc.) also form a large part of our case load. Our team has many years of experience in family matters and has the expertise to conduct your case from start to finish to include contested court hearings.

Resolution guides our approach to the breakdown of marriages, civil partnerships and relationships. However, with one of our team on your side, you can be assured that advice will be delivered in a sensitive approachable manner, and be confident that our representation of your interests will be robust.

Trouble with the Police

We have expert Solicitors who are Accredited Duty Solicitors and members of The Criminal Law Solicitors Association. We can assist from initial police interview, which is currently free, though to the Magistrates Court and the Crown Court our staff are available to conduct your defence in an expert and professional manner.

We also act for clients who face prosecution from other government departments such as the Environment Agency, the Benefits Agency and Local Authority. We can also act on a fixed fee basis.

Wills, Probate & Trusts

Another specialist side of our practice.

Everyone should have an up to date will to ensure that their assets devolve in accordance with their wishes and that the tax man benefits as little as possible. We have very reasonable fixed fees for straightforward wills.

More complicated wills involving tax planning will cost you less than one would imagine. As always, the secret is to plan ahead. We frequently arrange home visits for the aged or infirm or for those who simply prefer to discuss such matters at home. Visits away from the office will incur a small fee.

A death in the family or of a close friend is always a distressing time. You may need help to settle a deceased's affairs whether or not there is a Will. You may need to sell property belonging to the estate, deal with bequests and negotiate with the Inland Revenue over questions of income and inheritance tax. This is something that we have vast experience in and can use to your advantage.
